The name Doc Holliday conjures images of the Wild West and the shootout at the OK Corral, but before he was a Western legend he was a Southern son, born in the last days of the Old South with family links to the author of Gone with the Wind. Now this amazing story is told for the first time in a trilogy of novels entitled Southern Son: The Saga of Doc Holliday. The story begins with Inheritance, set during the turbulent times of the American Civil War, as young John Henry Holliday welcomes home his heroic father and learns a terrible secret about his beloved mother. Inheritance is the first novel in an epic tale of heroes and villains, dreams lost and found, families broken and reconciled, of sin and recompense and the redeeming power of love. It has been a time for rebuilding in Geyser, but rumors of a coming attack from the Odium band of cutthroat pirates are looming. Clyde, Nevele, Flam, and Rohm must strike out separately to find a way to stop them before it’s too late. Nevele scours the dark alleys of Adeshka’s neon-lit streets, paying for information from Odium defectors, and what she learns from one is terrifying—the gang has three days before the Odium attack Geyser. Their goal: to get at the deposit of wendal stone under the city and use it to create an army of fabrick weavers, which would make the Odium the biggest threat the planet Gleese has ever seen. What makes the threat so frightening isn’t just an attack from the Odium—it’s why. (goodreads summary)

Dust motes danced in sleepy diagonals. Since falling asleep however many hours earlier, I hadn't moved an inch; I was in exactly the same position as when I'd lain dow. So was everyone else: Less Thans in one part of the barn, Sisters in another.

A hot debut trilogy and a riveting story of survival, courage, and romance in a future where creating a master civilization is the only thing prized, no matter the method. After the Omega (the end of the end), 16 year old guys known as LTs discover their overseers are raising them not to be soldiers (lieutenants) as promised, but to be sold as bait because of their Less Than status and hunted for sport. They escape and join forces with a girls’ camp, the Sisters, who have been imprisoned and experimented on for the "good of the Republic," by a government eager to use twins in their dark research. In their plight for freedom, these heroes must find the best in themselves to fight against the worst in their enemies.   (goodreads summary)
